PROJECTS (2014-2015)

SPRING BREAK TRIP TO NORTH CAROLINA

30 students travelled to Raleigh and Durham, North Carolina over spring break!

BENEFIT CONCERT

On Saturday, February 21st, we held our first ever Harvard Habitat benefit concert.  The event, titled All Under One Roof, brought together musicians, dancers, and comedians on campus who generously volunteered their time and talent.  With a supportive and rowdy audience, we raised just over $1,000.

WEEKEND BUILD WITH DEAN KHURANA

Dean Khurana joined 11 volunteers on a build in Wayland, MA on February 28th. Thank you Dean Khurana for supporting our faculty involvement initiative to bring students and professors together through public service!  We were featured on his instagram.

BOULDER TO BUILD FUNDRAISER

With the generous support of the Lowell Rock Wall, we have been holding small-scale fundraisers at the indoor climbing gym in the basement of Lowell House.  Newcomers and experts alike are welcome to boulder with us.

J-TERM TRIP TO COSTA RICA

During winter break, a team of 12 travelled to Costa Rica.  In one week, they went from clearing trees and digging holes for foundations to putting up all four walls.  Our international director, Sietse Goffard, made a great timelapse. Other highlights from the trip include time at the beach, a mud bath at the hot springs, playing soccer with the locals, and learning how to make empanadas.

PROJECTS (2013-2014)

HOUSING AWARENESS WEEK

This year we unleashed a chalk campaign. All around campus you might stumble upon one of our 10 housing awareness facts on the ground. For example, families comprise nearly 40% of all who are homeless.

CRIMSON KEY SOCIETY

On Saturday, April 26th, the Crimson Key Society spent a chilly afternoon in the Greater Boston area painting the inside of a house for a family in need. The presentation ceremony will be happening soon!

J-TERM TRIP 2014: COSTA RICA

During winter break, Harvard Habitat for Humanity made history by breaking ground on the first Habitat Home in Biolley, Costa Rica. In 1 week, we built ¾ of a house for a family in need and installed the only personal septic system within a 15 mile radius. Some trip highlights include seeing monkeys and sloths in Manuel Antonio National Park, playing soccer with the locals, and attending a music festival in a tree house.

PROGRAM SPOTLIGHT

Earlier this semester, Harvard Habitat was featured in the Phillips Brooks House Association newsletter for our commitment to global service.
